Weekend Wow!!!

Fort Worth Friends:  Have you heard of Town Talk???  It's the best kept secret in our fine city!!!  Town Talk is a grocery store warehouse that carries overstock, discontinued items, etc.  I visited Town Talk yesterday because I needed some spices that are VERY expensive in the regular grocery store or supercenter.  Here's what I bought:

1 Jar Chai Spice
1 Jar Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 Jar Curry Powder
1 Jar Rosemary Leaves
1 Large Jar Paprika
1 Large Jar Ground Cinnamon
1 Large Jar Garlic Powder
1 Jar Bay Leaves

Grand Total OOP = $13.30!!!!

If you're interested in heading to Town Talk to find some great buys for yourself, I keep these pointers in mind:

  • Go on a Saturday.  Word has it that this is when the trucks are unloaded and they have the best selection.  Going on a Saturday also helps you to be leisurely and really hunt for the best deals.
  • Before you leave, make sure you KNOW YOUR PRICES in the local grocery store, as some of the Town Talk prices are HIGHER than the regular store.
  • SET A BUDGET before you leave home.  I recommend setting a limit of $10-$20.  Take cash with you so that you have to stick to your budget!  When you are setting your budget, be aware that Town Talk DOES NOT accept coupons because they are a warehouse center.
Have a great time finding super deals on a few of the things that you would ordinarily pay through the nose for!!!!

Weekend Wow!!!

This weekend was a TERRIFIC time for me to head to the store!  I went armed with TONS of price-matches, high-value coupons, and pharmacy rewards credit.  My trip included short stops at Aldi, Albertsons,
Wal-Mart, and Kroger.

What I got:
2 bags tortilla chips
4 boxes oyster crackers (Stocking up for holiday party mix--Have you started stocking up yet?)
2 quarts reduced sodium chicken broth
1 box heart healthy pancake mix
6 boxes granola bars
1 multi-pack of yogurt
1 gallon milk
3 bags Goldfish crackers
3 cans Chef Boyardee
2 boxes Kotex
1 bottle garlic salt
1 box chili seasoning mix
4 packages multi-colored peppers
1 dozen eggs
3 1/3 lbs. ribeye steak
4 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast

Total OOP = $26.37

Yippee!!!!  I hope you also have a very successful shopping trip of savings this weekend!

Weekend Wow!!!

This weekend, I hit up the B1G1 sale @ Albertsons!

Grand Total OOP = $14.04
Total Savings = $27.90 (67%)

Here are a few tips to find some of the same deals I did:
Usually the register will only double or triple four identical coupons for identical items, so I purchased different flavors of soup to maximize all of the duplicate coupons I had in tow.
I also stumbled upon the paper towels on sale for $1.29, and I had a coupon for $1/1!  SCORE!!!
The bell peppers usually retail for somewhere between $1.50 and $2 at most grocery stores, so I took two @ $0.79 for good measure--especially since I'm needing one for a recipe this coming week!

Happy Deal Hunting this Week!

Weekend Wow!!!

Well, this weekend, I didn't exactly follow my own $5 scenarios @ CVS & Walgreens.  However, I had good reason:  I was OUT of makeup.  In my household, it is a SAD day when you run out of makeup.  Lucky for me, CVS & Walgreens had some GREAT deals on Makeup this weekend, so I STOCKED UP!!!!  I also picked up a few other things along the way.  Here's what I got:

Total OOP = $38.74
Total Savings = $35.27 (48%)

How I did it...

At CVS...
I took advantage of the Physician's Formula Makeup Sale (B1G1 50%) & the BIG Almay ECB's.

At Walgreens...
I took advantage of the Almay B1G1 50% sale & used some HOT $2/1 coupons that will expire soon.  I also rolled the RR's for the toothpaste into the shampoo purchase.

At Target...
I stacked coupons for the Febreeze Set & Refresh.  Target had a $0.75/1 coupon to add to the mfg coupon for $1/1.  I happened to have 3, so I bought 3 sets for my classroom...Preteens smell TERRIBLE when they come to music class right from P.E.  This was a WISE purchase :)  I also brought my own bag to get an extra $0.05 off and help take good care of God's creation!

Hope you have lots of fun using some of my tips and some of your own creativity to find some great wows of your own this week!  Have a super week!
